Modine Manufacturing Company, a diversified global leader in thermal management technology and solutions, announced a Modine Foundation contribution of $200,000 over five years to Higher Expectations for Racine County.
Building Literacy Skills at the Racine Public Library
More than 100 young learners attended the event and practiced matching letters with their letter sounds, reading picture books, creating letters with play-dough, coloring, and other fun early learning games at the Racine Public Library with the Author and Illustrator of Alexis and Anthony Go To Kindergarten.

Higher Expectations for Racine County and Racine County brought together community leaders in workforce and higher education to better understand what we can accomplish when we work together to overcome barriers to adult education for Racine residents. Along with the national nonprofit, CAEL (Council for Adult and Experiential Learning) the group brainstormed solutions to create a resilient and sustainable workforce for Racine County.
Commute to Careers
Higher Expectations for Racine County, in partnership with Racine County, has received $267,000 through the state’s Commute to Careers program to fund rides for residents unable to access worker training or employment due to lack of transportation, County Executive Jonathan Delagrave announced today. Commute to Careers is a program of the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. Eligible residents pay just $1 to $2 per ride through a vanpool-type program provided by Community Health Transit LLC.
Week of the Young Child
Higher Expectations for Racine County was thrilled excited to be part of the Week of The Young Child — an annual celebration honoring our community’s efforts in preparing our youngest children to be successful.
At this event, the Week of the Young Child area in the field house showcased community partners and have interactive learning activities for families with young children. At our booth, we had children draw self portraits, a skill that shows they are ready for kindergarten.
