WHAT DO YOU DO FOR HIGHER EXPECTATIONS?

In my role as the Project Manager, I work to transform high school graduation and post-secondary education systems in order to provide more opportunities for post-secondary education for Racine area students. This helps improve economic mobility for Racine residents by addressing barriers to education and ensuring students have the necessary support and resources to succeed in higher education and beyond.

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?

I am a Racine native and attended Carthage College, where I received a degree in Political Science and Spanish, with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. Before joining Higher Expectations for Racine County, I managed the conference inquiry and proposal process at The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread. In this role, I worked closely with non-profit partners to convene impactful meetings and conferences.

I love staying involved in the Racine community. I recently completed a two-year term as a transit commissioner for the City of Racine. I have also served as board secretary for The Main Project Community and chair of the Civic Engagement Committee at Voces de la Frontera. Additionally, I enjoy volunteering with Por La Gente at their annual events assisting with fundraising efforts to provide scholarships for Latino students.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO IN RACINE COUNTY?

My favorite summer activities are spending time at North Beach with my family or enjoying a peaceful lunch break at the Windpoint Lighthouse.

WHEN YOU WERE A KID, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?

I grew up watching a lot of Animal Planet and always wanted to be a Veterinarian!

WHAT MAKES YOU EXCITED TO BE A PART OF THE HIGHER EXPECTATIONS TEAM?

I am excited to be part of a dedicated team working to create a brighter future for our students and community. I look forward to leading our youth engagement efforts in the high schools through our Youth Collaborative, ensuring their voices are heard and valued at every stage of our work!

WHAT’S ONE THING YOU LOVE THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WORK?

I love trying new restaurants and coffee shops!
