WHAT DO YOU DO AT HIGHER EXPECTATIONS?
In my role as the Communications Consultant, I support the external communications and marketing efforts at Higher Expectations to support community engagement. This helps improve economic mobility for Racine residents by expanding our reach and visibility in the community.
WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?
I grew up in northern rural Wisconsin and attended UW-Stevens Point where I majored in Communications. I’m currently pursuing a master’s degree at UW-Milwaukee, in the Cultural Foundations of Community Engagement and Education. My career background is in higher education student services and the non-profit sector. I’m also passionate about volunteering for LGBTQ+ safety initiatives, mental health, and suicide prevention.
WHEN YOU WERE A KID, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?
I always wanted to be a veterinarian because of my love for animals. As I grew up, I had the goal of becoming an English teacher.
WHAT MAKES YOU EXCITED TO BE A PART OF THE HIGHER EXPECTATIONS TEAM?
I’m excited to have the chance to work with an organization that highly values diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
WHAT’S ONE THING YOU LOVE TO DO THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WORK?
I enjoy going to the movies, playing video games, or going on adventures with my dog, Blitz. When I’m not out and about, I’m snuggling down with Blitz and my cat, Lucifer.
