The Racine County Economic Development Corporation hosted its 35th Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 18th to celebrate this year's accomplishments and present its 2017 Annual Report. At the event, organizations, programs, and individuals were recognized for their impact on the community this past year.
The Workforce Development Project of the Year Award was given to StartIT, an initiative created by members of the Higher Expectations IT Network in partnership with Racine County Workforce Solutions and the George Brey Neighborhood YMCA. This program, now in its second year, provides young adults with the skills needed to obtain a high-quality IT-related jobs. Trick said the award recognizes the trio that developed the program — Cory Mason II, Chuck Goodremote and Michael Polzin — and the seven graduates who have completed the program.
