Higher Expectations Creates Interactive Data Dashboards with Tableau

Higher Expectations for Racine County Youth has created “Career to Cradle” Data Dashboards.  The dashboards can be found on the Higher Expectations website where they present data from the 2015-2016 Annual Report, allowing website users to interactively select, review, and compare data.  Some of the data users can review include:

  • Racine Unified School District (RUSD) high school graduation rates over the past few years.
  • Racine County unemployment rates, which can be compared to state and national levels.
  • Racine area post-secondary enrollment, retention, and graduation.

The Data Dashboards were designed using Tableau.  Higher Expectations was one of 15 partnerships (out of 64) from the StriveTogether Cradle to Career Network that had the opportunity to participate in a fellowship with StriveTogether and the Tableau Foundation.  Higher Expectations Data Manager, Matt Snyder, was selected to participate in the fellowship, where he used the Tableau software to create this interactive interface.

With Tableau, Higher Expectations has created a valuable community asset.  With this data, vital information can be communicated to all areas of Racine County, and the community can rely on this simple way to view data to better understand the progress we are making.
