Kindergarten Readiness: A Foundation for Success

Higher Expectations for Racine County Youth believes that a key element to a child’s future academic and career success is access to high-quality, early learning opportunities.

According to James Heckman, a professor of Economics at the University of Chicago, investments in quality early childhood programs lead to better educational, health, social and economic outcomes for individuals and entire communities.

In fact, such investments will reduce the need for costly remediation and social spending in the future while increasing the value, productivity and earning potential of individuals.

Using research to guide our efforts in Racine County, Higher Expectations is working with key partners, like Racine Unified School District and United Way of Racine County, to promote kindergarten readiness.
