DeAnn Possehl

Post-Secondary Network Facilitator

What do you do at Higher Expectations?

I convene higher education partners in order to improve post-secondary completion in our region. This helps improve economic mobility in Racine County by increasing college enrollment, completion and ultimately post -secondary attainment in the region.

What is your background?

I moved to Wisconsin after completing my Bachelors degree in Psychology from Luther College. From there, I went to work at UW River Falls where I earned my Master's of Science in Education in Counseling. Little did I know that I would spend my career working in education specially improving outcomes for students. I'm excited to be able to expand my work to improve outcomes for all students in our region.

I live in Racine with my daughter, dog and cat.

What is your favorite thing to do in Racine County?

I have always loved sledding with my daughter at Lockwood Park and have the Impossible dessert at Javier's.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I was always loved animals, so I thought I would be a veterinarian.

What makes you excited to be a part of the Higher Expectations team?

I really like being part of an organization that is focused on improving the lives by improving educational outcomes for all students. The approach is unique and really tries to have institutions think differently about how they work as an organization but also with other organizations in the community.

What's one thing you love that has nothing to do with work?

I love spending time with my family, traveling and trying new restaurants.
